Behind Scribe-Mate
The Scribe-Mate was the brainchild of Dave Shipton, an engineer who became a kitchen and bedroom installer. After years of frustration trying to get perfectly accurate scribe lines, Dave decided to create a solution. His goal was simple: to mark accurate and reliable scribe lines on fillets—so that when you cut along the line, the fit is perfect, without any need for additional trimming. In Dave's words, he wanted to “create a scribe line rather than a guide line."

The Scribe-Mate is an incredibly simple yet ingenious tool that ensures precision. Instead of using a traditional guide line that can shift or be inaccurate, the Scribe-Mate allows you to create a perfectly accurate scribe line every single time. After Dave had the initial idea, he reached out to Ray Wilson, a retired businessman, for some advice and support. Ray, impressed by the concept, suggested ways to refine the design, and the pair decided to team up to get the product to market. This partnership led to the creation of Scribe-Mate, a device that now revolutionises how professionals and DIY enthusiasts approach precision cutting.
