When engineering met installation, a better way to scribe was born. Dave Shipton, once an engineer and now a kitchen and bedroom installer, grew tired of creating guide-lines that needed refining—so he set out to design something that actually works first time. His mantra? “To create a scribe line, not a guideline.” 

Dave approached Ray Wilson, a retired businessman, with the idea. Enthused by the simplicity and promise of the concept, Ray collaborated with Dave to refine the design and bring it to life. And that’s how Scribe-Mate began. 

From the outset, Dave and Ray were committed to 'Green Issues'. As far as possible, all components are manufactured using recycled materials, and in turn  are recyclable, biodegradable and/or compostable. They vowed to keep the company's carbon footprint as low as possible. A little over 80% of the product is procured in the UK, thus supporting the local economy and minimising the carbon footprint.

Giving Back to Our Community

Today's children and young people are tomorrow's community and community leaders, so each and every one of them needs, indeed deserves, the best start possible. Sadly and through no fault of their own, many children and young people are not able to enjoy life experiences which are ‘the norm' for others.

It is our intention to donate a sum of money each month to support as many children and young people as possible; we will provide money to schools to cover the cost to fund children whose parents cannot afford to send their children on field trips and similar events; cover the cost to coach talented or gifted athletic and sporty children; provide strips to children's clubs and schools, or provide camping equipment to the Scout movement. Clearly, we cannot support everyone, but we genuinely want to make a difference to as many children and young people as possible.

Customers are invited to nominate individuals and organisations and we will spread our support as widely across the UK as possible.
