Using Pre-Drilled Holes
Most cabinets come with pre-drilled hinge plate holes—usually 5mm or 3mm. Scribe-Mate’s stepped location pins are built for both.
5mm holes? Slot the tool straight in, secure with the bugle-head screws provided (don’t overtighten).
Place your fillet tight against the blocks, clamp in, scribe your line, cut—and boom. Perfect fit, no filler, no caulk.
3mm holes? Just slip on the shim, secure, and follow the same process.
When There Are No Pre-Drilled Holes
For Plinths and Top Fillets

Not all cabinets play nice. If there are no holes, you’ve got options:
- Option 1: Rotate the tool so the location pins face into the cabinet, shoulder snug into the corner. Fix and go.
- Option 2: Use a location plate opposite the pins. Secure the block where you want it, then remember: remove the plate before fitting the fillet, or you’ll end up 3mm short.

Corners can be awkward. Here’s how to keep them neat:
- Slot a Scribe-Mate shoulder into a top or bottom inside corner.
- Add a second block on the opposite side.
- Lock in your fillet.
- Long run? Bring in a third tool with a location plate.
Overcoming the “Step” Problem
Cabinet panels don’t always line up. Here’s the fix:
- Measure the step.
- Match shims to the exact thickness.
- Place shims between tool and fillet.
- Scribe, cut, admire your work.
A Note on Screw Holes
Every screw hole you make with Scribe-Mate is perfectly placed to fix your fillets for final install. Hinges usually cover them, but if they’re visible, just cap them. Done.
